K H T , Korean Hand Therapy is a system of awakening the body to improved health and wellness. By stimulating specific points on the hands, pain can be alleviated in other parts of the body. This system uses reflex points on the hands, however it is similar to foot reflexology in theory.
In KHT the whole of the body is reflected onto the hands. Stimulation of corresponding points of the hands to areas of pain in the body usually are quite tender, and are sometimes painful. The practitioner will normally use a metal pointer which also may be used as a roller
to cover a larger area. After the treatment small acupressure pellets may be placed on the area, and may be left on for one or two days to facilitate healing.
KHT is practiced by a diverse group of health care professionals, including acupuncturists
chiropractors, nurses, physical therapists, doctors and massage therapists. Many times it may be added to help enhance another form of treatment. I have experienced this treatment
first hand (forgive the pun!) and felt the healing effect in my neck almost immediately. More
range of motion with less pain. Though it was an intense feeling while my instructor was giving the treatment, the trade-off was worth it.
TREATMENTS
KHT may be added to a massage therapy session or may be used as a stand alone form
of therapy. Treatment times are usually 10-30 minutes in duration for KHT only.
A KHT treatment is $35.00.
